Kids Eat Free

Last night Kaitlynn and I went to Denny's Restaurant with my parents. We were going to order Kaitlynn some french fries and then I was going to give her some of the breakfast I ordered. The waitress said that if we ordered from the kid's menu she could eat free. So I ordered her the Moon & Stars chicken nuggets with french fries. This is the first time we have ordered from the kid's menu for her! My baby is a big girl now! She didn't eat much, so it's a good thing it was free. I think she ate maybe 2 or 3 fries, a little piece off one of the chicken nuggets, and a few bites of my breakfast. She was too busy flirting with everyone in the restaurant to eat. Of course I have to add some pictures of my big girl. I love this outfit. It makes her look like a big girl.

Your baby's a cutie pie! How did you go about introducing solids to her? Ruby's almost at that stage, so I've been asking other mothers how they went about it.

Lauren, I started Kaitlynn on solids when she started giving cues that she was ready. She was reaching for food on our plates and mouthing every bite we ate. She started doing that at about 4 months old, so when she was 4 1/2 months old I started her on rice cereal mixed with breastmilk. She didn't like it, so I tried oatmeal cereal and mixed it with breastmilk. She liked that better. I gave her that once or twice a day (not everyday) until she was about 6 months old. Then I bought baby food for her - only vegetables. I didn't introduce her to fruits for another month or two. I gave her a new vegetable every week. Mondays were my day to try a new vegetable with her (this is for allergy purposes). I think I also started giving her cheerios and puffs around this time to promote self-feeding. At 9months old, I started giving her bites of bananas (she doesn't like them mashed up) and pears. Now she thinks whatever is on my plate is fair game. So I am just careful not to have anything on my plate that is a choking hazard or candy. Hope that helps. Good luck!
