Dating Anniversary

Last Wednesday was Dave and my 8 year dating anniversary. 8 years ago, we went on our first date on Father's Day (so obviously it was a Sunday). We went to the Shakespeare Festival. A Midsummer Night’s Dream was the play showing that year. We have gone to every production since with the exception of 1 (because we were in Florida). We both remember that night so well. We were so unprepared -no blanket, chairs or food and beverages. The people behind us had tiki torches and a bucket of KFC. At one point we were afraid one of their tiki torches was going to set Dave on fire. We almost left during intermission because we thought the play was over. We even remember the conversation we were having as we were walking from the car to the play - it was about chunky chicken (don't ask!).
As the years have gone by, we've gotten pretty good at being prepared for the Shakespeare production. This year's production was Hamlet. It was awesome! Our dinner consisted of Subway sandwiches and Riesling. What a combo, huh? It was such a beautiful evening. We couldn't have picked a better night to go. Quotes from the production: "To thine own self to be," "Brevity is the soul of wit," "To be or not to be. That is the question, " and "Get thee to a nunnery." What great quotes.

Kaitlynn stayed at MawMaw's. We also took Pumpkin and Jasmine (the cats) to MawMaw's because they are going to live at her house. So, we are cat-free now! Kaitlynn and MawMaw had a treasure hunt around the house, played outside, played with dolls and gave her doll a bath after making dinner. Kaitlynn was bathed and sleeping when we came to pick her up. We probably should have just left her there, but she did well transitioning to the car and then to her bed. She stayed asleep the entire time.

Tiger's Scrapbook and Slideshow

While I was crying in the basement, Dave and Kaitlynn were hugging me. Kaitlynn wanted to know what I was crying about, so I let her see Tiger's body. We told her that Tiger went night-night for good and that he was in heaven. Later we told her that he was in heaven with PawPaw Dado.
Dave put Tiger's body in a box so we could take him to the vet. Kaitlynn wanted to see him one last time.
We took Tiger's body to the vet. We are having him cremated and will get his ashes in about 2 weeks. Leaving his body in a box on the counter at the vet was such a hard thing to do.

The Best Cat Ever

On Sunday afternoon, Dave and Kaitlynn went downstairs to feed the cats because Pumpkin kept crying at me. He came back upstairs and said that Tiger was laying in the basement by the litter pans and it didn't look good. I went downstairs and he was dead. I just dropped to my knees and started crying. I couldn't believe it. A few days ago, when MawMaw was over, she said she was worried about how skinny he had gotten. I told her that Dave thought Tiger was using the bathroom upstairs instead of in the litter box. She said she thought we should have him put to sleep. I told her that I didn't want to be the one to make that decision. I told her that I wished if it was time for him to go, he would go on his own. Well he did. But it didn't make it any easier.

I got Tiger 20 years ago at The Best of Nature on Watson Road. It was a plant shop and for some reason they also had kittens for sale. I cried and begged my dad for this little grey and black striped kitten. I promised I would take care of him. We bought him for $5. It was the best $5 ever spent. I got the most loyal pet ever. He was such a good cat from the start. He loved taking naps with me or my mom. He was such a good best friend to me. I know to some people that sounds crazy, but he was a good friend. He would listen to me rant about things or rave about things. He always showed me unconditional love. He was always there for me. I wish that everyone could experience a pet like him.

We celebrated his birthday on June 13th. We don't really know when he was born, but that was a day we designated for his day. He turned 20 this year. He will be missed so much.

Belated Birthday

We celebrated Kaitlynn's birthday with my Aunt Sam today. She didn't get to come to Kaitlynn's birthday party because she was in the hospital. We picked up my mom and then met Sam at Applebee's for lunch. She gave Kaitlynn an outfit and three magnetic dress up dolls. The outfit was really cute - a white tank with blue jean capris with butterflies decorated on them. We had a nice lunch and then went shopping.

We bought Kaitlynn some clothes and shoes. We have been looking for sandals or summer shoes and found a few pairs today. We went to my mom's, where Kaitlynn played with Sassy and Shadow outside.

Not too Happy with one of our Furry Kids

We have 3 cats (and a dog). Our cats names are Tiger, Pumpkin and Jasmine. Tiger is 18 1/2 years old and is the grey and black stripped tabby on the right. Pumpkin is 4 years old and is the caleco in the middle. Jasmine is 3 years old and is the grey and black stripped tabby on the left. One of the cats has been pooping in the basement (not in the litter box, but on our new carpet). They keep doing it in the same spot. We don't have furniture in the basement yet, because we need to paint the baseboards and a few other things first. Well, tonight I figured out which cat was doing it. It is Pumpkin. I was downstairs in the office printing out Avon invoices. Dave had just cleaned poop up from the usual spot. When I walked out of the office I saw Pumpkin walking away and there was poop back in that spot. So I put Pumpkin's nose in it and hit her. I don't know if this will work, but it sure is frustrating that she keeps doing this. Their litter box is clean. I guess she is doing it because of Kaitlynn, but Pumpkin gets a lot of attention and plays with Kaitlynn. So needless to say, I am not too happy with Pumpkin right now.
