Valentine's Day

Sunday the 14th, we exchanged Valentine's gifts. Dave gave Kaitlynn some chocolates. Kaitlynn and I gave Dave some books, a Valentine's cookie and some crafts the she made. Dave and Kaitlynn gave me a couple Victoria's Secret bras and matching panties and some Godiva chocolates. We gave Kaitlynn some candy, a Bratz doll (Valentine's Day collector's edition), flash cards, notepad with pen, puzzle and activity book.

We went to the Zoo for their Mardi Gras Parade. We got to watch the March of the Penguins again. We were up really close this time. It was so awesome. Kaitlynn loved it! Penguins are one of her favorite animals. Kaitlynn had her face painted like a Mardi Gras mask. She made a penguin with a toilet paper roll. We had a good time, despite the weather. It was snowing and pretty cold out.

We adopted a king penguin for Kaitlynn. This is part of a Valentine's / birthday gift. With the adoption, she received a 12" plush king penguin, adoption certificate, color photo and fact sheet, car decal and t-shirt transfer, name on the Zoo Parents Kiosk for 1 year and an invitation to the Zoo Parents Picnic.


After the Zoo, we went to the evening church service. Kaitlynn didn't get to attend her class. She really missed it, but it isn't offered at that service.

Meeting A New Playgroup

Tuesday we met with a different / new playgroup (CBW) at Chick-Fil-A. This was the first playdate that we have been able to make with this group. I think it was only the 2nd playdate for this playgroup. News Channel 5 and Kay Quinn were there to take some footage of the playdate. There were about 7 to 10 of us moms there. I met some really nice moms and can't wait to meet with them again. Right before Kaitlynn and I left (there were only 3 or 4 of us left). I was carrying 2 drinks and holding Kaitlynn. Kaitlynn either tried to get down or she kicked at one of the drinks and managed to make me smash the drink all over myself. It was all over my jeans and all over the floor. I was so embarrassed. The moms helped me and made me feel better, by saying that that kind of thing happens to them all the time (since they each have 2 children).

We came home from the playdate and waited for Hasnain to come over. While Hasnain was over, Kaitlynn and I made three Valentine's cards.

After Hasnain left, Kaitlynn and I made a superfast grocery trip to Aldi's, came home to put the groceries away and went to a PTO meeting. Dave called while I was rushing around to tell me that he got a speeding ticket. That's his 2nd one in less than a year. He said he really doesn't think he was speeding, but the cop said he was going 11 over. Oh, well!
After the meeting, Kaitlynn played with play-doh while I got dinner ready for us. We ate dinner and then got the Valentine cards ready for the party on Wednesday.

Valentine's Crafts, Babysitting and Stupidity

Monday Kaitlynn and I worked on some Valentine's Day crafts. We made 2 love bugs and several pictures.

I watched Whitney that afternoon. Kaitlynn, Whitney and I went to my mom's because I had to take her to get her medicine. Then we came back to our house to eat dinner and wait for Whitney's dad. Whitney was pretty fussy for a few hours. She didn't like my mom, which is weird because most kids / babies like her.

I did the stupidest thing. I put my car keys in Whitney's diaper bag as we were coming into the house and I forgot to take them back out. So Whitney went home with my car keys and I couldn't take my mom home. Dave ended up picking them up after school from their house. Kaitlynn and I didn't get to take my mom home until 10:15PM. Then we got stuck on the highway because of a really bad accident. It involved at least 6 cars! Kaitlynn and I didn't get home until midnight! Thankfully she was sleeping the whole time.

Valentine's Day

Kaitlynn and I slept until about 11AM. She has had a hard time going to sleep these last few nights because of the excitement of the birthdays. So we slept in. Dave was home when we woke up and he said he had gifts for us in the kitchen. Dave had a Valentine’s balloon, red tulips, a toblerone, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and 2 cards waiting for us.

The balloon was mainly for Kaitlynn because she likes them. Dave bought the red tulips for me because the last time we were in the store I mentioned I thought the tulips were pretty. Toblerone is my favorite candy bar and the macadamia nuts were a remembrance of Hawaii (from 2004). Kaitlynn and I gave Dave some pictures we had taken of us at JcPenney and shave cream and body wash.

Kaitlynn had fun opening her Valentine gift. She liked trying to eat the tissue paper. She liked the love bug, but was a little afraid of its voice. The voice sounds kind of alien. She also got some love bug pajamas, a love bug book and finger puppet, and a love bug washcloth.

Kaitlynn and I went to the Nursing Moms Group and then met my parents for dinner at Steak n Shake. My parents gave Kaitlynn a white bear with red hearts on it for Valentine’s Day. The other day Kaitlynn received a Valentine’s book and card from Dave’s cousin Carol.
