A Busy Friday

Dave, Kaitlynn, Olivia and I went to the Zoo. Dave and I were a little nervous about taking Kaitlynn out, since she was only on day 4 of potty training. Kaitlynn did awesome! She was a little unsure of using the big potty at first, but eventually was fine with it.

After Olivia went home, we picked up MawMaw and headed out to Eckert's Millstadt location for the MomsLikeMe.com Apple Fest and Haunted Hayride playdate.

The Haunted Hayride was definitely not kid / family friendly as Eckert's website and staff stated. It was way too scary for the younger kids.

Kaitlynn did such an awesome job all day with using the potty. She didn't like the porta-potties at Eckert's, but who does? We are so proud of her!

Babysitting Monday

I stayed up too late last night, so I was tired and didn't get much done today. I think Kaitlynn's potty obsession is over with. She hasn't been asking to sit on the potty as often, isn't telling me when she needs to pee / poop or when she has already gone. We are still reading the potty books and even watched a potty video today. I am not pushing it. I actually am not ready for her to be potty trained yet, so there's no pressure on this end.

Hasnain came over after lunch. I think Maryam went up to school or back home to study. Kaitlynn and Hasnain took a nap together. It's so cute seeing them sleeping next to each other. He tried to cuddle up with her before he fell asleep, but she pushed him away. Maryam ended up picking him up early because she had a headache. I only had him 2 1/2 hours instead of 4 hours.

Whitney came over today too. She was asleep when Genny first brought her, but only slept about 15 minutes. Kaitlynn and her played on the floor for awhile and then Kaitlynn held her while sitting on the couch. Whitney went back to sleep while I was making dinner and slept for about 45 minutes. I think she would have slept longer, but I had to get her ready for Matt to pick her up. I watched her for a little less than 4 hours.

I watched The Bachelor tonight. I haven't been watching the show all along. I just started watching it a few weeks ago. I couldn't believe what happened tonight on the show. I would have never thought that would happen. I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it yet, but it was crazy.

It Doesn't Matter Who Gets There First

Thursday night Dave and I went to a Toilet Learning class. It was actually very informative and I am glad we went. So many people put so much stress on toilet training / learning, but seriously your kid will go potty on the toilet. Maybe not when you are ready for them to, but when they are ready, they will. I think that people / moms get so freaked out or stressed out by other moms. They start worrying that their child should be potty trained or isn't on target with development. You know what, who cares? It doesn't matter who gets there first. It doesn't matter if your child or my child speaks first, walks first, potty trains first, etc. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Just because someone does something first, doesn't mean they are better at it. It doesn't mean anything. Seriously, who is going to remember who did what first in a few years? The other thing is that when a child does potty train (and learn many other things), it is the child's success not the parent's or mom's. I think many moms think that if their kid does something first, it means they are great parents. Not so much. Your child just learned it first. That's it.

The class just talked about waiting until your child is ready and not trying to make your child ready. They gave ways to know your child is ready and tips on how to prepare your child. It was such a helpful class and really took the stress out of it. Kaitlynn will toilet learn when she is ready. No hurry.
